STARRED

Posted on June 16, 2008

Well, if you’ve refreshed my home page lately, you’ll see that Publisher’s Weekly gave us a STARRED REVIEW!!!  Not that I should care, of course.  Because true artists are above all that trophy stuff, gold-plated glorifying, ego-boosting stuff.

But because I’m a Kentucky girl, and I’ll call myself an “artist” the day Jeff Foxworthy calls himself a soliloquist, let me just say…WOO-HOO!

The second we found out, my husband and I had to email a friend (& former book reviewer for a major newspaper) and ask what the star next to the review meant.  I thought it might be an asterisk, referring to the bottom of the page where We wrote this just to be nice or “This asterisk should be next to the Barbara Walters memoir.  If it is not, it is in the wrong place.” would be captioned in teeny print.  But no, he said, using terminology he knew I’d understand, it’s kind of like the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for books.  Rarely awarded, and a very favorable accolade.

Got it.  Hope the book doesn’t injure some child and end up on the Recall page.
